RBI Archives | Access to Records
 
The Bank's records kept in the custody of the Reserve Bank of India Archives are available for bona-fide consultation and research purpose at the premises of the RBIA subject to the Reserve Bank of India Historical Research Rules, 2001. The following are the main provisions of the Historical Research Rules, 2001.

Access to records will generally be open to post-graduate students, research scholars, members of the staff of the Reserve Bank of India and other banks as well as students from other institutions.
A person who intends to consult the public records shall apply to the Chief Archivist in prescribed format. All research scholars would be required to bring recommendatory letters from the College/Institution/Department/Bank, as the case may be.
Foreign nationals wishing to consult the records in RBIA should also bring recommendatory letters from the Universities/Institutions sponsoring their candidature along with letter addressed to the Principal, College of Agricultural Banking (CAB), Pune establishing the authenticity and genuineness of purpose.
Access to RBIA's Archival Library would also be provided to the Research Scholars. Library books would be provided for reference purpose and books would not be issued or given on loan to the Research Scholars.
Scholar shall exercise every care in handling the requisitioned material and see that the same are not damaged in any way.
Any scholar who uses the records in RBIA for the purpose of his/her historical research and publishes his/her work based on material from these records shall deposit with the RBIA Library a copy of his/her work free of charge, immediately after its publication.
The Chief Archivist reserves the right to deny access to any of the documents.
The permission for consultation of records can be revoked at the discretion of the Principal, College of Agricultural Banking in public interest. In case of any dispute regarding the rules and their interpretation, the decision of the Principal, College of Agricultural Banking would be final.
